Blade Runner – End Titles by Vangelis [Cryonaut Tribute Cover]
Blade Runner was released in 1982, when I was 10 years old, but I didn't actually see the film until I was well into my teens. And even though at that age I didn't fully appreciate the story yet, the movie still made a huge impression on me, not only for the breathtaking visuals, but musically as well. Vangelis' iconic score was perfectly matched to the bleak, but mesmerising dystopia of future Los Angeles. I fell in love with the film, but even more with the soundtrack, and particularly the End Titles final track.
End Titles was one of my first exposures to the beautiful blending of silky strings with arpeggiated synthesizer patterns. And though I probably wasn't aware of it at the time, that track would take root in my mind and go on to influence much of the music I make today, which is laden with plenty of synth arpeggios, and just as many orchestral elements, especially strings.
For this piece, I wanted to pay proper tribute to the original arrangement of the End Titles theme, but then advance it into new territory by adding a more pronounced beat, shifting the key here and there, and even bringing a dash of the epic Opening Titles melody into play toward the end.
The video is a straightforward homage to all of the wonderful cinematography and characters of the movie. Of course I don't own the rights to any of it, and all the rights belong to their respective owners. I haven't monetized this video, nor do I want any money because of it. It is simply my humble way of paying tribute to one of the great influences in my life, and of saying thank you to its director, cinematographer, actors, and crew, as well as to composer, Vangelis and to conceptual designer Syd Mead, both of whose influence is saturated through every fibre of this film. Thank you so much for all you have given to the world.

Genesis - Dodo / Lurker [Cryonaut Cover]

Download the high quality MP3 for free at www.CryonautMusic.com I spent much of my late teens and early 20s listening to progressive rock, and Genesis quickly became a huge influence on my musical tastes (part of my sacred three prog-rock pillars, along with Rush and Yes). Dodo/Lurker, off their 1981 album, ABACAB, is one of my all-time favourite Genesis tracks. It twists and turns, taking the ...

Download the NEW ALBUM for FREE at www.CryonautMusic.com This, the mastered album version, has been substantially enhanced over the original, with new instrumentation and arrangement. Hope you like it! Most of my compositions start out as simple melodies or chord progressions. This one was no different in that the music was composed before I even thought of a theme or a title. At one point, the...

Much of my music begins t...

There's definitely a Boards of Canada influence at wor...

Download the NEW ALBUM for FREE at www.CryonautMusic.com I was inspired to create this track after watching a number of space shuttle launch videos. Amazing to think of how far we've come since the 1950's and what yet lies ahead for us. I've always been a big fan of humankind's endeavours into space, regardless of which country or initiative is behind them. And I think that such efforts to expl...

Download the NEW ALBUM for FREE at www.CryonautMusic.com The idea for this track actually came about as an offshoot of an earlier track, The Voyager. It borrows the tempo, one or two beats, and some of the same instruments. And so I thought it might be cool to set up a 'sister' track to that piece. As things progressed, I discovered there was even more tangential material in The Voyager I could...

Download the high quality MP3 for free at www.CryonautMusic.com 14 years ago I fell in love with a video game. ...sometime between 1992 and 1995, can't really remeber exactly, my father got a job as a cab driver, for a fancy Romanian hotel. He was, as most east europeans back then, very curious, anxious to find and discover the new era, what happens in the west, what music do the westerners play, and why! He met a lady that gave him a casette, one with the Vangelist and another one with Bob Marley.(i mean, a completely bizzare combination) Very strange choice i would think, but then again... This made a tremendous impact on me: i remember listening to vangelist and bob marley, and asking my self - what is this? It was very, i mean, extremely different music than what i was listening back then. Strange and curious times! Very strange But then again, i met 2 of the most capable and loving human. beings of that century!

22JAM2024 - Outstanding job this. And talk about save the best for last. Heck yeah, we absolutely should have an observation deck and hotel rooms built on a single peak in the Grand Canyon. Only one though. Think of how truly awesome that would be. And all the proceeds would go towards helping maintain natural habitat. But we gotta stop hating on each before we can focus on doing something spectacular. Hold fast, humanity. We are being tested.
